Off the rack in Dressmaker
The May 2026 Tea post is the first place I saw the studio talk about making and selling off-the-rack dresses. The September price post then said the 35-hour story figure does not include that rack. I have not timed either number.
Players treat the rack as a sandbox: design something, put it out, sell it. Community guides say an all-burlap dress returns the full price because the cloth is free. That margin is their claim. Reddit posts show themed rack dresses, including a Wonder Woman outfit. I am not embedding those photos.

How not to make an off-the-rack dress
The official finished-dress screenshot shows separate Complete Commission, Keep working, and Sell dress buttons. For a customer job, choose the commission action when the brief is satisfied rather than assuming every Sell action is delivery. This screenshot establishes those separate actions, not the rules for deleting a rack listing.

Questions people ask
Is off the rack a creative mode?
It is the closest documented sandbox: you make dresses and sell them without a customer brief. The studio has not labeled a mode called creative.
Does the 35-hour length include the rack?
The price post says the 35 hours are story commissions, excluding off-the-rack work.
